Induction to Convert White Adipose Tissues to Beige Cells Using Diet and Gut Microbiota
I think the research and career prospects for microbiologists are diverse and the field continues to evolve with advancement in technology and our understanding of microorganisms. As I am working with microorganisms beneficial to the human health, I would like to continue to pursue careers in academia, working at the Keio University Honda Laboratory, to conduct research on various aspects of microbiology and contribute to scientific advancements. Another pathway I could take is to work at the Keio University Hospital, to analyze patient samples to identify and treat infections. I would like to contribute to epidemiological studies and public health efforts.

Alteration of collagen in mouse sclera during lens-induced myopia development and recovery
I have been dedicated to myopia research for the past two years because the complications of myopia bring a great burden to people’s quality of life and social economy. With the development of society and the popularization of electronic products, simple myopia seems to be inevitable. However, simple myopia does not suddenly transform into pathological myopia, and there should be a gradual deterioration process during this period, my research is searching for such a state and indicator to gain a deeper understanding and prevent complications of myopia, improve the lifelong quality of life of myopic individuals.
I have been an ophthalmologist for 10 years before, so I have a better understanding of clinical needs. I will promote my research results in the clinic in the future.

The effect of HIF Inhibition via vitamin B6 in a murine model of Light-induced Retinopathy(LIR)
My research is dedicated to developing new drugs and therapies for retinal vascular diseases and expanding the understanding of them. The ever-evolving challenges of research fuel my curiosity and bring a deep sense of accomplishment. I aim to integrate emerging technologies like AI and gene therapy to revolutionize diagnostics and treatment protocols. I am also committed to contributing to a dynamic, collaborative scientific community focused on mitigating the impact of retinal diseases worldwide. Valuing the research opportunity provided by Keio University, I am resolved to persistently apply my efforts toward these endeavors.

Single nucleus RNA and ATAC sequencing of hippocampal neurogenesis in MECP2-depleted marmoset
Coming to study abroad in Japan has created a great opportunity for me to expand my perspective of the current field, although staying at Japan is my favoured option for building my career, I am still actively looking at opportunities in other countries. Environment-wise, I would love to work in an international environment, and be able to fully utilise my ability in languages. In addition to my research and application of bioinformatics, I aim to acquire skill and knowledge in machine learning and artificial intelligence to aid analysis in a higher level.

Myopia progression, dry eye, and presbyopia conditions and treatment in relation to quality of life
I am investigating the relationship between ocular conditions such as presbyopia, myopia, and dry eye and quality of life, including the interrelationship with other systemic conditions. I am also exploring animal models of diabetic retinopathy to better understand the disease pathogenesis and develop new treatments in humans. I have a Doctorate of Optometry and a Master’s in Public Health, so I am experienced in clinical practice and understand that side of the field. In the future, I hope to find positions that allow me to continue to research ocular conditions and improve patient outcomes.
