I am a graduate researcher at Keio University School of Medicine, focusing on gut microbiota–derived metabolites and their roles in intestinal homeostasis. My research centers on phenyl propionic acid (PPA), a microbial metabolite that enhances colonization resistance against pathogens through metabolic modulation rather than direct toxicity. By integrating gnotobiotic mouse models, molecular biology, and LC–MS–based metabolomics, I aim to uncover how microbiota-derived metabolites regulate host–microbe interactions. Ultimately, I seek to translate these findings into strategies for disease prevention and precision nutrition, contributing to a deeper understanding of how diet and microbiota shape human health.

My research aims to elucidate how the gut microbiota influences the host nervous system by focusing on interactions between gut bacteria and the enteric nervous system (ENS), and investigating how these interactions relates to the central and peripheral nervous systems. By examining these mechanisms at both molecular and neural circuit levels, I seek to advance understanding of the gut-brain axis. Ultimately, this work aims to provide foundational insights into how microbiota-based interventions could contribute to novel therapeutic strategies for gastrointestinal and neurological diseases.

My research focuses on identifying novel therapeutic strategies for skin diseases, combining cellular and molecular approaches to better understand disease mechanisms and develop targeted interventions. I am particularly interested in translating these findings into practical applications within the skincare industry. In the future, I aim to contribute to product formulation in a skincare company, leveraging scientific insights to develop effective, evidence-based treatments that improve skin health and alleviate current socioeconomic burdens related to skin diseases.
